Like smoke from a 10-cent cigar, these injuries have the ability to linger around much longer than necessary. Proper assessment of a muscle injury includes age, sex, mechanism of injury (MOI), previous history of injury, and desired performance level. Treatment is based on the specific muscle, injury location on the muscle, and length of injury. CMT, ice, heat, ultrasound, E-Stim, TENS, rehabilitation, and education are all effective treatments. The choice of treatments will be decided after a full evaluation and all options are discussed.
